Our goal at the workshop is to build a more sophisticated and competitive car while explaining the science and mechanics behind these adjustments. The workshop can count towards many achievements in the Cub Scout program.
We can cut the shape of the car for you;
We cannot let scouts use the bandsaw, but we can talk about safety precautions when using tools and show how the bandsaw works. We then discuss the effect of weight and aerodynamics on the speed of the car and let the scouts sketch the shape before cutting it out.
We show the boys how to smooth the wheels for minimum friction and drag;
We show the boys how to fine tune the axles;
The scouts can apply a primer coat of paint;
And we help with final assembly;
We strive for competitive and creative cars that the boys can be proud of.
